Danny Kreutzfeldt is not new to the scene. In fact he had many releases under several monikers like sgnl_fltr or Periskop on labels like Databloem, Aabtek and especially Thinner/Autoplate, which he influenced a lot.

Concerning his new Stadtgruen LP,the first thing we wanted to know is why his LP is called Atrum:

It�s a collection of various depressing minimal techno and electronica tracks. Atrum is latin for gloomy, but really appeared to me as a crashwriting of traum and atrium. To me there are certain dreamy and architechtural aspects to these tracks, but by just calling the album Atrum i am only giving away the depressing aspect of the tracks.

When preparing everything for the release of Atrum via Email (which was in fact queued, queued and again queued), we came on the topic of clubmusic. Danny reprocessed Atrum when it was still in the queue and meant, this could also be released on Stadt, because of the more beatdriven tracks now. Though the rhythms in Atrum are somehow even grooving, I argued with the fact that it�s not exactly clubmusic and hoped I didn�t insult him in that way:

I hate clubs and don�t think i�ve ever danced in one unless I was pretty demented by some substances. I am not saying people should dance to my music instead of clubby beats, or that I enjoy dancing to my own music (far from it actually), but tolerance to complexity in danceable rhythms really is a question of taste.

I like the idea of a rave as something that only takes place inside the head, or maybe just a dimly lit room with speakers and people, who are slightly shaking for hours and barely moving with blank expressions on their faces because the slow repeated rhythms and thick layers of sound have put them in a state of calm intrapersonal numbness. This is the sort of party Atrum could be the soundtrack for.

Sometimes, however, I feel like I have to use rhythms in a track out of weakness, because i�m not good enough at letting the sounds sustain through time.

What I love in Danny Kreutzfeldt�s music is the uncomparable atmosphere. I was so happy getting some unreleased tracks directly from him in Soulseek some time ago, because I was (and still I am) digging his music. For my understanding, every work of Danny has this icy coldness and gloomy darkness within itself. The music sounds just so pure, sometimes even raw. Some tracks even create images of an somehow �evil nature� in my head, like those tracks are made by the forces of it. The only thing i wonder is why Danny Kreutzfeldt�s music always incubates those impressions. Isn�t there any blissful ambient track he made so far?

I hope you agree that blissful is a problematic term to use here. I often find bliss in very dark or angry music. The bright or happy music appears from me once in a while, but always seems to have an ambiguous nature to it, that draws the good times in doubt. In the same way I don�t think my music is just cold and dark. Even if a track starts out in a cynical or illtempered way, I often try to add more emotional layers into the track, which suggests a refining of the mood instead of a mere development.

And there we see again that the reception of the creator can differ very much from that of the listener (in that case me). I also made this experience quite often, and it seems to be a necessary attribute of music. Otherwise it wouldn�t be music, it would just be something or some thing.

Le danois Danny Kreutzfeldt nous propose avec Atrum une techno minimale sourde et hypnotique aux ambiances froides et industrielles. L�homme dit qu�il tire son inspiration de l�astrophysique et �a s�entend. Chaque morceau est un long voyage intergallactique, parfois tr�s long d�ailleurs mais on ne s�ennuie pas pour autant.

A �couter en priorit� �Quanta 2�, une odyss�e d�une lenteur extr�me dans des mondes inconnus et hostiles. Assez rude. Aurez-vous le courage de r�sister aux angoissantes 16 minutes 50 du morceau ? J�ai r�ussi; avec d�lice.

Fallen lassen. Tief ins Ungeborene. Oder ins Werdende. Sich aufl�sen im Schlamm, in dem die Lotosbl�te wurzelt. Es ist schon fremd dort unten, und doch vertraut. Ein Schmetterling, der sich erinnert, dass er einmal ein unf�rmiges, dahinkriechendes Wesen war. Unter dem Pseudonym sgnl_fltr ver�ffentlicht Stadtgruen das neue Release Atrum von Danny Kreutzfeldt. Es ist schon ein merkw�rdiges Universum, mit dem er uns hier erneut konfrontiert. Tiefe B�sse, schleichende Beats und viel Hall schaffen eine spezielle Atmosph�re, der man sich (zu gewissen Stunden) gerne hingibt. F�nf Titel sind auf dem Release versammelt. Besonders hat's mir Ginea, der zweite Titel angetan. The crawling chaos oder the blind idiot god, die Lovecraft goes sound-Edition.

He de reconocer que soy un admirador de la m�sica de Danny Kreutzfeldt desde hace a�os, no lo puedo negar. Desde que en el 2002 descubriera sus magn�ficos Furtherspace y Protolith bajo su propio nombre en Autoplate y Thinner respectivamente, no he dejado de seguir la obra (porque es puro arte) de este dan�s que bajo distintos alias no ha dejado de asombrarme y emocionarme. Danny Kreutzfeldt para minimal ambient con tintes dub e incluso noise en ocasiones. sgnl_fltr para una mezcla de electr�nica y techno minimaloide, oscuro y profundo. Sectorchestra para dub house abstracto. Periskop para una mezcla de ambient ritmico y electr�nica e incluso como Fallingapparatus se atreve con lo que el mismo define como sci-fi harshnoise/hardcore. Tambien lo podemos encontrar en distintas colaboraciones como Rumforskning o 5e phalanx. Un mar de akas para un mar de inquietudes, que han derivado en magnificas referencias en estos a�os, tanto en netlabels como en sellos �relales�. Y es que ya es el tercer album que nos presenta utilizando sgnl_fltr como pseudonimo. Tras los excelentes Mikro (en el netlabel Aabtek) y Vebra (en el sello Databloem) en esta ocasi�n nos presenta un nuevo �lbum llamado Atrum en el netlabel Stadtgruen con 5 temas de car�cter opresivo, cargados de atm�sferas (de las que es un maestro) y los beats precisos para introducirnos en una espiral de sonido profundo e hipnotico que engrandece aun mas la sensaci�n ambiental de este disco. No me gustar�a destacar ning�n tema por encima de otro ya que los 5 cortes completan un todo, que da mas valor si cabe a la palabra �lbum. Estamos ante la banda sonora ideal para un viaje por el espacio infinito. Oscuridad absoluta. Gravedad cero.

nach einem monat wartezeit ist es wieder soweit und stadtgr�n pr�sentiert ein weiteres release der gr�n-reihe. dieses mal begeistert danny kreutzfeldt's alter ego "sgnl fltr" mit d�ster minimalen elektronik tracks die unter die haut gehen. und damit beweist er einmal mehr seine ungeheure vielseitigkeit.
[...] und irgendwie wei� man nie ob man jetzt dazu tanzen oder chillen soll. ich schlage beides vor. wunderbare entspannung wird sich in dir ausbreiten und f�r wohlige gelassenheit sorgen. sound f�r die dunkle jahreszeit, von depressionen keine spur, zumindest nicht bei mir... aber ich bin ja sowieso ein nachtmensch :)

danny kreuzfeldt (bereits bekannt von autoplate / thinner) auf neuen pfaden und mit einer der ver�ffentlichungen, die mich auf anhieb �berzeugen k�nnen. f�r die ruhigere stadtgruen-sparte sehr d�stere und auch schwierige kost, aber klasse, dass der clubeinsatz eine option unter vielen bleibt. massive soundw�nde und b�sse, welche viel raum und auch zeit (kein track dauert unter sieben minuten) beanspruchen. wohl dosiert einsetzen, weil es die laune des publikums auf die gesamte distanz eher betr�bt als animiert - aber gegen �quanta 1″ im warm-up oder gegen �polar (remix)� zum schluss eines abends h�tte ich beileibe nichts einzuwenden. einzig �quanta 2″ strapaziert meine geduld mit seiner sehr kratzigen sound�sthetik etwas �ber, der rest braucht den vergleich mit monolake und ruhigeren zhark-experimenten nicht zu scheuen.
